Sorry: Opposition Leader Jeremy Corbyn Apologises for Defeat. In an open letter, opposition leader Jeremy Corbyn apologised for his severe defeat in the UK parliamentary elections.

“I won’t bother about it, and the result was a big blow to anyone in need of real change. (…) I’m sorry I didn’t get enough.”

It was a smashing election victory for British Prime Minister Boris Johnson last Thursday. His Conservative Party won an absolute majority in the Lower House.

But where there are winners, there are also losers – in this case (especially) Jeremy Corbyn and his Labor Party. He lost out, and Labor lost dozens of seats. For the party, it was the worst election result since 1935.

For that result, opposition leader Corbyn has now taken the word “sorry” for the first time in an open letter in the newspaper The Sunday Mirror. “I won’t bother.

The election result was a big blow to anyone in need of real change in our country.” He continues: “I wanted to unite the country I love, I am sorry that I failed and I take my responsibility.”
