Paraguay also Opened an Embassy in Jerusalem as a Third Country. Paraguay has moved its embassy in Israel from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem. This makes the South American country the third country to open an embassy in Jerusalem.

Paraguayan President Carter was with the Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu today at the opening ceremony. Earlier, Carter had a meeting with President Rivlin.
Anger and protests
The decisions to relocate the embassies and recognise Jerusalem as the capital of Israel are controversial and lead to great anger among Palestinians. They see East Jerusalem as the capital of a future Palestinian state. Israel regards Jerusalem as its “permanent and indivisible capital”.
Israel celebrated its 70th-anniversary last week. In violent protests in the Gaza Strip, dozens of people were killed and shot by Israeli soldiers. Also, thousands of people were injured according to Palestinian sources. According to the Israeli army, the demonstrators threw firebombs and stones.
