Ukraine Considers Escape Routes Unlikely as Attacks Continue

Ukraine is negotiating with Russia humanitarian corridors through which civilians can flee from several cities but has little confidence in them because Russian forces have not stopped their attacks.

Russia had announced a ceasefire in Kharkiv, Kyiv, Sumi and Mariupol from 8 a.m. Dutch time to allow citizens to leave the Ukrainian cities.

According to the Russian Defense Ministry, six corridors are being set up, which will lead in the direction of Russia and Belarus. However, the Ukrainian authorities state that everyone can decide where they go and advise people not to be evacuated by Russia.

A spokesman for Ukrainian President Volodimir Zelensky had called Russia’s stance on the corridors before that “completely immoral”. He said that Ukrainians should have the right to go to their own territory if they leave cities.
