Twitter Erased 166,000 Accounts for posting Terrorist Tweets. Twitter suspended a total of 166,153 accounts in the second half of 2018, according to the reports.
This concerns accounts that shared terrorist content.
According to Twitter, about a fifth less terrorist content has been shared.
These are messages in which terrorism was promoted.
In the first six months of 2018, 205,156 accounts were omitted for that reason.
Twitter states in a transparency report that technical measures toward this type of content show issues.
For example, 91 percent of messages with terrorist content is proactively removed by systems from the platform.
“The decline is showing a trend that we are observing,” said Twitter CEO Sinead McSweeney.
“There is a decrease in the number of terrorist organisations that use our service.”
