Sales of Fashion House Prada Up Sharply in First Half

Sales of the Italian fashion house Prada rose very sharply in the first half of this year compared to a year earlier, when they were severely hit by the corona pandemic. As a result, turnover rose by 60 percent to 1.5 billion euros.

Due to the relaxation of the corona measures and the economic recovery from the corona crisis, the demand for Prada’s luxury products, such as clothing, handbags and shoes, is also increasing sharply.

According to Prada, sales increased in all regions from a year earlier, although the company in Europe still suffered from store closures due to the lockdowns earlier this year. As a result, a net profit of 97 million euros was achieved against a loss of 180 million euros a year ago.

Prada expects sales to remain strong in the second half of this year. With strong sales growth, Prada is following the lead of other luxury and fashion companies, such as LVMH, known for Louis Vuitton and Dior, Gucci parent company Kering and Burberry.
