Operated Alonso Fit in Time for Formula 1 Season

Spanish Formula 1 driver Fernando Alonso suffered a broken upper jaw in his cycling accident in Switzerland. 39-year-old Alonso was operated on.

 

His racing stable Alpine F1 thinks Alonso can resume training after a few days of complete rest and work towards the start of the season in Bahrain at the end of next month.

The 2005 and 2006 world champion left Formula 1 at the end of 2018 after a few disappointing years at McLaren.

The Spaniard will make his comeback in the premier class next season at Alpine, the new name of the Renault team. Alonso won his two world titles with Renault.

The driver was hit on Thursday while he was cycling in Switzerland. The damage was limited to a broken upper jaw. According to the racing stable, Alonso will remain under observation in the hospital for two more days and then go home.
