November Was Belgium’s Deadliest Month Since the War

Last month, more Belgians died than in any month since World War II. It has already been established that the corona year 2020 will be the deadliest year since 1945

November is also not inferior to April when the first corona wave peaked. The second wave is in danger of becoming just as deadly as the first, even if at first it seemed that it wasn’t too bad.

This year, around 15,000 Belgians are likely to die more than was expected from old age, accidents and illness.

The so-called excess mortality has not been that high in the past 65 years. Even if it is taken into account that the Belgian population is now much more extensive.

The coronavirus will also push up mortality in December. The virus is spreading again after weeks of its return. The number of infections is rising again. The number of Belgians in the hospital is barely decreasing.
