IBM is Bringing in Another Cloud Player

IBM continues to shop in the cloud. It takes over the American Taos. It is already the third cloud acquisition in a month.

Taos is headquartered in San Jose, California, and has been around for thirty years.

The company is led by Hamilton Yu and focuses, among other things, on the migration of data centres and hybrid cloud management services. In addition, it has partnerships with Azure, Google Cloud Platform and AWS, among others.

How much IBM will pay for the acquisition is not known. The acquisition has yet to be completed this quarter.

For IBM, it is already the third cloud acquisition in a month. The Finnish Nordcloud was acquired in December, followed last week by 7Summits, which focuses on Salesforce consultancy.

It is no surprise that IBM is making such acquisitions. The company announced last year that it would split off its Global Technology Services division this year. This should ensure that the remaining IBM can better focus on cloud-related services and technologies.
