French Prime Minister Wants to Postpone Regional Elections Due to Corona

French Prime Minister Jean Castex wants to have next year’s regional elections postponed due to the corona crisis.

The ballot box is currently still scheduled for March, but Castex is looking at whether that can be moved to June, according to his office.

France is one of the countries most affected by the coronavirus worldwide. Authorities have determined that around 1.9 million people have contracted the contagious virus.

There were 32,638 corona patients in hospitals on Thursday, the highest number since the start of the pandemic.

The government has declared a second nationwide lockdown to prevent further spread of the virus.
