WHO Chief Tedros Helps Rebels in the Ethiopian Region

The Ethiopian military accuses the WHO chief of the World Health Organization of helping local authorities in the rebellious Tigray region.

Tedros Adhanom Ghebreysus is from Tigray and previously served as Minister of Health in a government led by the party now fighting the Ethiopian military, the Tigray People’s Liberation Front (TPLF).

“That man is a member of that group and is doing everything to help them,” said the Ethiopian army chief of staff.

Heavy fighting has been going on in the region for weeks, resulting in hundreds of deaths. Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed sent troops to Tigray because he believed the local TPLF rulers had revolted.

A WHO spokesman reported there was no direct comment on the charges against Tedros. It is said not only to provide support to the TPLF at a diplomatic level but also to try to buy weapons for the movement.
