Stricter Corona Rules in Copenhagen and Other Parts of Denmark

Denmark has announced new lockdown measures in 38 of the 98 municipalities, including Copenhagen.

Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen said the new rules to prevent the spread of the coronavirus would come into effect on Wednesday and apply until January 3.

Cafés, restaurants, cinemas and other cultural institutions in the 38 municipalities must close. High school students in primary education, all secondary school students and students will be sent home shortly.

Denmark registered a record number of 3800 new infections with the coronavirus last weekend.

Frederiksen previously described the situation as “worrisome” and called on the 5.8 million Danes to make an “extra effort” to avert the disaster, including a reduction in their social contacts.
