A Russian court has fined Twitch’s American video platform 4 million rubles. This is because the company was spreading “false information” about the war in Ukraine, according to the Russians. This is reported by the state news agency TASS.
Twitch aired an interview with an adviser to the president of Ukraine. According to the Russians, the man gave misleading information about air strikes in the south of Ukraine.
After the start of the Russian attack on Ukraine in late February, the Russian parliament passed a ban on discrediting Russian troops or spreading false information about the war.
Various independent media and internet platforms were fined or banned for this. The foundation behind the online encyclopedia Wikipedia is also facing a fine. Wikimedia allegedly refused to remove information about the war.
