President Trump had contradicted that when he visited France in 2018, he scrapped a visit to a military cemetery because it was full of losers anyway.
Trump calls this story from The Atlantic monthly magazine ‘Fake News’.
In the run-up to the presidential election, the magazine published an article stating that he did not want to go to a cemetery with ‘losers’.
It concerns the American war cemetery Aisne-Marne in Belleau, northeast of Paris. There are nearly 2,300 soldiers killed in the First World War.
The visit would have been cancelled at the time due to weather conditions.
The Atlantic has been around for over 160 years and is vehemently opposed to Trump. The magazine has explicitly supported a presidential candidate only three times before the elections.
The last time was Hillary Clinton in 2016. The previous times were Lyndon B. Johnson in 1964 and Abraham Lincoln 104 years earlier.
