Oracle has announced Java 15 (Oracle JDK 15), the new version of one of the most essential programming languages in the world.
The latest Java Development Kit (JDK) offers new functionality including Edwards-Curve Digital Signature Algorithm (JEP 339) and Hidden Classes (JEP 371), as well as previous preview features now completed: Text Blocks (JEP 378) and ZGC ( JEP 377).
Java 15 includes Sealed Classes (JEP 360) as a first preview feature and second previews of Pattern Matching (JEP 375) and Records (JEP 384) for additional feedback from the community.
Oracle has been supplying Java on a six-monthly basis since version 10 (2018).
“As Java celebrates its 25th anniversary, we will continue to make technology investments that advance Java innovation and help address the rapidly changing technology landscape,” said Georges Saab, vice president of development, Java Platform Group, Oracle.
“The availability of Java 15 and the incremental innovation associated with the shift to a six-month release cadence gives the Java community the tools they need to build modern applications that move our world forward.”
