No More Research into Trump’s Hush Money for Porn Actress

The United States Federal Election Commission is no longer investigating a $ 130,000 payment that former President Donald Trump made to porn actress Stormy Daniels to keep her quiet about Trump’s extramarital escapades. That reports The New York Times.

The Election Commission investigated whether Trump had violated electoral law by paying the hush money from campaign funds.

The $ 130,000 payment was never reflected in the Trump campaign’s accounts. Trump’s longtime attorney Michael Cohen had said Trump had ordered him to pay hush money to two women in the run-up to the 2016 election.

Cohen eventually went to jail for violating campaign finance laws, tax evasion and perjury.

The Electoral Commission was not unanimous about the scrapping of the investigation into the payment of the hush money. The Democrats on the Election Commission wanted to continue the investigation.

Still, Republican members said that that would “not be the right way to deal with the limited resources” of the Election Commission.
