Nearly Two Years in Prison and £3,000 Fine for British Agent Who Stole £80 from Wallet

A police officer in London was sentenced to 22 months in prison on Monday for stealing £80, about 93 euros, from a wallet. The Metropolitan Police announced that.

The theft was reported by a colleague. He had noticed that the 80 pounds had disappeared from a wallet that had been brought in to the police.

After an internal investigation by the Metropolitan Police, an officer was identified as the culprit. He was arrested in March 2021, and at the end of September this year, a London court found him guilty of theft and obstruction of justice.

The same court handed him his sentence on Monday. He was sentenced to 22 months in prison and must pay £3,000 in court costs. The officer involved had already been suspended. An internal disciplinary procedure is now underway.
