Motorcycle racer Lorenzo Savadori has successfully operated on a broken ankle after a crash in MotoGP.
His Aprilia MotoGP team reports that the 28-year-old Italian underwent surgery on Monday in Parma and will miss the Austrian Grand Prix next weekend.
Savadori was involved in a severe accident with Spaniard Dani Pedrosa during the Styrian Grand Prix last Sunday, in which the engines caught fire.
Pedrosa himself ran away from the scene of the incident, Savadori was taken away on a stretcher.
“The surgery went perfectly, and the driver will start rehabilitation right away, to get back to racing as soon as possible,” said Aprilia.
