Many Injured in New Riots in Jerusalem

Palestinian protesters and Israeli security forces clashed again at the al-Aqsa mosque in Jerusalem on Monday.

Hundreds of people threw stones and other projectiles at the police. He responded by firing tear gas, flash grenades and rubber bullets.

Aid organization Red Crescent talks about hundreds of injured people, of which about fifty had to go to the hospital. It has been restless in the Israeli capital for days.

This is partly due to the planned expulsion of Palestinian families in East Jerusalem. They have to make way for Jewish settlers.

Israel also celebrates Jerusalem Day on Monday, an annual holiday that commemorates the 1967 capture of East Jerusalem.

The authorities had already decided that Jewish groups should not be allowed to visit the al-Aqsa mosque area to prevent further unrest.
