Growth of Air Travel Passengers Continues

The number of passengers that airlines have transported in March has risen considerably. The healthy economic situation and the increased confidence in the business contributed to this. The occupancy rate was never so high in March, reports the international trade association IATA. Last month there was already a record.

The number of kilometres that airline passengers travelled together increased by 9.5 percent on an annual basis. The capacity also increased, but less hard. As a result, aeroplanes were on average 82.4 percent full. Europe and Emergency America were leading the way, while Asia was just below average. Africa and the Middle East, in particular, lagged behind.

IATA CEO Alexandre de Juniac expects a turnaround for the second quarter. Due to rising fuel costs, price fighters, in particular, will have to deal with declining growth.
