Former US President Bill Clinton (75) has been hospitalized. A spokesperson said he is in California’s Irvine Medical Center due to “an infection”. It is not a corona infection, reports the spokesperson.
In the hospital, Clinton is given antibiotics and is “closely monitored”. The spokesperson reports that Clinton is already on the mend. The former president is said to be “grateful” for the good care of hospital staff. “He is recovering; he is in good spirits and is incredibly grateful to the doctors, nurses and staff who have provided him with excellent care,” Angel Urena said in a statement on Twitter.
According to CNN, Clinton was hospitalized because of a urinary tract infection that spread to the bloodstream. According to the news channel, the former president reportedly reported to the hospital on Tuesday during a visit to California due to fatigue.
CNN also reports that Clinton is in intensive care. That would not be because of the gravity of the situation but to ensure the “security and privacy” of the former president. Doctors hope Clinton can “go home soon.”
Clinton was president from 1993 to 2001.
