Film About Luxury Life Lukashenko Has Already Been Viewed 3 Million Times

A film claiming that Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko spent hundreds of millions of dollars on luxury homes and cars, among other things, has been viewed more than three million times in a short period.

The film was posted on YouTube by the opposition news channel Nexta on Monday.

In the film ‘Lukashenko Goldmine’ it is said, among other things, that the president’s palace has cost the state more than 210 million euros. Lukashenko, who calls himself the “president of the people”, is said to own seventeen other homes.

Journalists say in the film that Lukashenko bought expensive cars, including Rolls Royce and Maybach. He himself said earlier that the vehicles were gifts from businessmen.

Belarusian authorities have not responded to the film, but the president said last week that his opponents would be working on a fake story to destabilize the country. “I haven’t stolen anything from the state, and I haven’t taken anything,” he said.

The publication comes when the opposition is preparing for another wave of protests against Lukashenko’s re-election last August. According to them, there was blatant fraud at the polls. Mass demonstrations took place last year against the election results.
