Former United States President Donald Trump plans to create a social network. The platform will be called ‘TRUTH Social’ and will be launched in early November, initially for invitees only.
The network is owned by the new Trump Media & Technology Group (TMTG) and plans to include a streaming service that will feature “non-woke” programs. Woke is a movement of people who are very aware of racism and social injustice against minorities.
“I created TRUTH Social and TMTG to stand up to the tyranny of Big Tech. We live in a world where the Taliban have a huge presence on Twitter, but your favourite US president is silenced,” Trump wrote in a statement. He calls that “unacceptable”. Trump wants the network to “give everyone a voice” and become a “rival” for the liberal media. “I look forward to broadcasting my first TRUTH on TRUTH Social very soon.”
Twitter and Facebook blocked former President Trump’s accounts following the storming of the Capitol on January 6. It is currently unclear who will finance the new social network and what it will look like.
After a test version for invitees in November, TRUTH Social should be fully launched in the first quarter of 2022. After that, Donald Trump would become chairman of TMTG.
