EU foreign chief Josep Borrell calls for the de-escalation of protests against police brutality in the United States.
We Europeans, like the Americans, are shocked and appalled by the death of George Floyd,” he said in Brussels.
“Abuse of power must be exposed and combated everywhere. We condemn violence and racism of any kind and call for de-escalation.”
“All lives are important, including the lives of black people,” said Borrell.
He called for vigilance and respect for the rule of law, human rights and freedoms.
