David Attenborough can be found on Instagram since Thursday. The 94-year-old presenter and regular voice of the BBC’s nature documentaries have more than 530,000 followers within two hours of his arrival.
Attenborough decided to create an account on the social medium to draw attention to climate change. “Hello, my name is David Attenborough, and I have appeared on radio and television for the past sixty years, but this is my first time on Instagram.
I use this new form of communication because, as we all know, the world is in danger. The Briton says in a video, his first post.
“Continents are on fire, glaciers are melting, coral reefs are dying, fish are disappearing from our oceans, the list goes on and on,” said Attenborough. “But we know what to do about it, and that’s why I’m going to use this new way of communication for me.”
The presenter will provide his followers with information about climate change and what they can do about it.
Filmmakers Colin Butfield and Jonnie Hughes, who made the upcoming Netflix documentary David Attenborough: A Life On Our Planet, will also be posting on his Instagram account.
