Cafes and Restaurants in Barcelona Open Again From Monday

Cafes and restaurants in Barcelona and other cities in the Spanish region of Catalonia may again receive guests from Monday, until 9:30 pm.

Cinemas, theatres and concert halls can also reopen with a maximum of half the typical number of visitors.

It is a first step in the intention of the regional government to phase out corona measures, Spanish media report. The catering industry had to close mid-last month to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.

Restaurants and bars can only fill 30 percent of the places. A maximum of four people per table is also allowed on terraces if they keep a distance from each other.

Gyms may reopen with a significant restriction on the number of people.

The curfew in Catalonia from 10 pm to 6 am will remain in effect for the time being, as will travel restrictions previously imposed on residents of the wealthy coastal region.
