Bush Pilot (78) and Son (43) Killed in Forest Fires in Australia

The official death toll of the forest fires in Australia has risen to 23. Today two more people died, this time on Kangaroo Island, a popular tourist destination.

This is the well-known bush pilot and outback tour guide Dick Lang (78) and his son Clayton (43).

Various Australian media report this. Police today found the pilot’s body in a car near the city of Parndana.

His son’s body was discovered about 200 meters away on the highway. The two were probably on their way back home after fighting the flames in the forest for two days.

Lang was one of the best-known outback pilots in South Australia. Among other things, he led various rescue operations in the desert and later went on to work as a tour guide.

His family is shocked by the death.

“We are devastated that we have lost two beloved members of our family under such terrible circumstances,” the relatives said in a statement.
