British Prime Minister Boris Johnson calls the “fantastic” news that his country’s medicines authority has formally approved the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine for use.
It is a step that will revive the economy, he said on Twitter on Wednesday.
The vaccine will be available in the UK from next week. “It is the protection of vaccines that will eventually allow us to get our lives back and get the economy going again.”
Chris Whitty, the UK government’s top adviser on medical matters, said it would take until spring to vaccinate the vulnerable population seeking the vaccination altogether.
