Actress Whoopi Goldberg has apologized extensively in American media for some questionable statements about the Holocaust.
Goldberg had said on an episode of her talk show “The View” that “The Holocaust was not about race, but about the inhumanity of people to their fellowmen. It involved two groups of white people.” That statement provoked outrage among Jewish organizations in the United States.
“Newsflash, Whoopi Goldberg: 6 million of us were gassed, starved and slaughtered for being considered an inferior race by the Nazis,” according to StopAntisemitism.org. “How dare you minimize our trauma and suffering!”
Goldberg apologized for her statements in a social media post. “I’m sorry I hurt people. The Jewish people will always have my support. My sincere apologies!”
