US Stops Evacuation Flights to Restore Calm at Airport

The United States has stopped evacuation flights from Kabul airport because it is too busy at the airport. The soldiers present will first clear the runway. It is unknown how long the eviction will last.

 

The German Foreign Ministry said earlier that flights could not land or depart because of the crowds. Many Afghans have fled to the airport because they want to leave the country now that the Taliban have also taken capital Kabul.

Many countries are busy trying to get embassy staff out of the country. The airport is controlled by 5,000 US military personnel. They also had a hard time keeping the peace on Monday morning. Then shots were fired in the air.

Five people are said to have died from crushing at the airport. There are also reports that three people were killed by gunfire.
