A committee of the US House of Representatives released a damning report on Wednesday about the developments around Boeing’s 737 MAX aircraft.
Not only the aircraft manufacturer will be beaten, but the American aviation authority FAA will also suffer.
The 250-page report came about after an 18-month investigation by the Transport and Infrastructure Committee.
“Boeing failed to design and develop the MAX, and the FAA failed to oversee Boeing and certify the aircraft,” it concluded.
The 737 MAX was Boeing’s best-selling aircraft until two aircraft crashed in close succession in late 2018 and early 2019. This was due to problems with the operating system.
But according to the committee, accidents were not the result of a single mistake.
“They were the horrific accumulation of a series of erroneous technical assumptions by Boeing engineers, a lack of transparency on the part of Boeing’s board, and grossly inadequate oversight by the FAA.”
