The German car group Daimler, the parent company of Mercedes-Benz, will temporarily stop production at three factories in Germany because of the chip shortages that the car industry has been struggling with for some time.
Daimler had to suspend production earlier this year because of the shortages of semiconductors, like many other carmakers.
These are factories in Sindelfingen, Rastatt and Bremen. Rastatt and Bremen will be closed for a week, while certain production lines at Sindelfingen will be shut down for a week.
A factory in Hungary will also be shut down for a more extended period of time. As a result, thousands of employees will temporarily work fewer hours.
