On Monday, the European gas price reached its highest level this year. Russia and Ukraine’s agreement on gas supplies to Europe ends this year.
This led to concerns about Russian gas deliveries via Ukraine. Gas supplies are also falling faster than usual.
On Monday, the price of gas for delivery in January rose to 2.5 percent on the gas exchange in Amsterdam and briefly exceeded 48.80 euros per megawatt hour.
This surpassed the previous annual record from the end of November. Shortly afterwards, the gas price dropped to over 47.00 euros per megawatt hour.
