Germany is in the third corona wave. German Chancellor Merkel said this to her Christian Democratic party members during a meeting, insiders report.
Merkel always emphasized the need to prevent a third wave of infections and warned, especially against the coronavirus’s mutations.
Berlin, therefore, announced a series of drastic measures at the end of last year. Recently, the first relaxations were decided, such as the opening of schools and hairdressing salons.
In terms of the number of infections registered so far, Germany is still doing reasonably well internationally. Per million inhabitants, there are slightly more than 28,500 positive cases, in the Netherlands, for example, almost 62,000.
And in terms of the number of corona deaths per million inhabitants, the Federal Republic stands at 820 against 889 in the Netherlands.
