The Democratic Republic of Congo considers the latest outbreak of the highly contagious disease Ebola to be over.
The Minister of Health announced this on Wednesday.
The disease emerged in June in Mbandaka, a city of one million inhabitants in northwestern Congo, and has since claimed the lives of 55 people while 130 infections were diagnosed.
The new wave of infections came weeks after authorities declared another major Ebola outbreak in the east of the country had officially ended.
As far as is known, this outbreak claimed 2,200 lives in two years.
