A 38-year-old man has been kicked off a plane in the US state of Florida for entering the aircraft with a thong as a mouth mask. He said he did this in protest against the mouth mask requirement.
A video posted on social media shows a United Airlines employee pointing 38-year-old Adam Jenne out of his seat. He pulled a red thong in front of his face at that moment. Other passengers seem to laugh at the action and even stick up for him as soon as he’s evicted, causing the man to miss his flight to Washington.
Jenne tells NBC News that he has often boarded a plane with his striking “mouth mask”. “The best way to illustrate absurdity is with absurdity,” he says. “I got different reactions from the cockpit crew on every flight. Some with a wild appreciation, others confrontational.”
United Airlines responded in a statement to the remarkable incident. “Clearly, the customer did not comply with the federal mask mandate, and we appreciate that our team addressed the issue on the ground before takeoff to avoid potential disruptions in the air,” the statement said.
He says that passenger Jenne will not be fooled and will just try another airline. “Hopefully, Spirit Airlines has more sense of humour.”
