New Zealand Opens Travel Bubble With Australia on April 19

People travelling between New Zealand and Australia will no longer need to be quarantined after arrival from April 19.

New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern said on Tuesday that the travel bubble between the two countries would go up from that date.

People with cold or flu symptoms are not allowed to travel between countries. The traveller must also not have had a positive corona test result in the fourteen days before departure.

In mid-March, Ardern already announced that the start date of quarantine-free travel with Australia would be announced at the beginning of April. At that point, New Zealand and Australia still had to short-circuit several things.

According to the prime minister, the conditions have now been met to enable the bubble. “Our team’s success in controlling and keeping out Covid-19 now makes it possible to reconnect with loved ones,” Ardern said at a press conference.
