Turkey and Greece on Collision Course to Extract Gas in Greek Waters

Tensions between Greece and Turkey have intensified in recent days. The rise in pressure was caused by a Turkish research vessel that was sent to a Greek island to map oil and gas wells.

The Greek authorities reject the Turkish expedition.

The ball started to roll when Turkey announced two days ago that it was sending a research vessel to the Greek island of Kastellorizo, which is near the Turkish coast.

Turkey wants to research gas and oil in the region. Immediately after the announcement, the Hellenic Navy rang the alarm.

The Greeks do not just allow a Turkish ship to research gas extraction at the Greek island of Kastellorizo.

According to the Greek press, Turkey has sent 18 military ships to the region. With the Greeks, it is now all hands on deck.
