Bill Burns, the head of the American intelligence service CIA, today meets his Russian counterpart Sergei Naryshkin in Ankara, Turkey.
According to American media, there is no mention of possible peace talks surrounding the war in Ukraine. However, the potential consequences of deploying a nuclear weapon by Russia would, among other things, be on the agenda.
CNN journalist Natasha Bertrand says a source within the National Security Council confirms that Russian director of domestic intelligence Naryshkin is meeting his American colleague Burns today.
Earlier in the day, after a report in the Russian newspaper Kommersant, the Kremlin wanted to “neither confirm nor deny” that talks are taking place in Turkey with an American delegation.
