Elon Musk Accuses Twitter of Deliberately Withholding Information

Elon Musk alleges that Twitter is violating the acquisition agreement by not providing him with information about spam and fake accounts. The Tesla CEO believes Twitter is “actively resisting” his information rights. This was revealed in a released document on Monday.

Last month, Musk said he would not proceed with his $44 billion acquisition of Twitter unless the network can prove that bots make up less than 5 percent of its users. CEO Parag Agrawel already said that the number of fake accounts is less than 5 percent.

But a document distributed Monday shows that Musk disagrees with Twitter’s assessment. According to the billionaire, Twitter only provides superficial information about the methodology of those conclusions. Musk has made it clear that he does not believe the company’s lax testing methods are adequate, so he must conduct his own analysis. The data he requested is necessary to do that,” the document said.

Musk retains the right to call off the acquisition project, according to the document. In response, Twitter shares fell 6.3 percent in New York before trading.
