The European Commission has filed a formal complaint against technology group Amazon on suspicion of unfair competition.
Brussels is concerned about Amazon’s way of dealing with external sellers who sell their products through the tech company’s sites.
The American group is accused of collecting data from those entrepreneurs, which is then used to compete with those same sellers.
The European Commission already opened a formal investigation in the summer of last year.
If Amazon is indeed found guilty of violating European competition rules, the European Commission can fine the company up to 10 percent of its annual turnover.
Last year, Amazon generated sales of more than $ 280 billion.
